Established in 1991, Organic Recycling Limited (ORL) is a family-owned business that has grown into one of the UK's leading composting facilities for biodegradable waste. Using innovative technology we annually process up to 60,000 tonnes of solid agricultural, horticultural and vegetable waste, paper, cardboard and green waste, converting it into compost, mulches and soil conditioners.
We offer technical and business advice on construction and ongoing operation of composting facilities including site design, technology, regulation and project funding. We also provide a range of customised training courses and briefing sessions for site operators, students, industry professionals and the general public.
Our fully-licensed 370-acre Energy and Recycling Park at Crowland near Peterborough includes facilities dedicated to research programmes, pilot and field trials.
We have a strong track record of delivering research and development programmes in conjunction with leading academic and commercial organisations. Working closely with the government's Waste Recycling Action Programme (WRAP), the Compost Association, and leading academic institutes, we have actively researched composting markets, product ranges and specialised composting recipes.
In 2003 we created our sister company BettaLand Products Ltd (www.bettaland.co.uk) to market the materials produced at ORL’s Energy and Recycling Park.
